Hello fellow artists... I'm facilitating a cluster group that's just started, and already there's resistance to the Morning Pages. Any tips on how to inspire my group to overcome the adversity to writing, writing three pages, and writing three pages each and every morning?

Re: Cluster Group resistance to Morning Pages
Fri, March 20, 2009 - 10:54 AMI'm not sure how to get anyone to do anything they don't want to, but I would ask why they bothered to join the group if they weren't going to try what was offered? Perhaps a suggestion that they suspend judgement for a while and simply try what's suggested with an open-mind. I'd suggest they at least try it for two weeks straight before deciding it wasn't for them. Since morning pages are a huge part of the AW, I'd remind them that they may miss out on the gifts this book/lifestyle offers. Good luck. -

Re: Cluster Group resistance to Morning Pages
Sat, March 21, 2009 - 12:27 PMThanks for the suggestion; I did mention something very similar to that this last week (our 3rd meeting). They are making morning pages about 40-50% of the week. One is doing the morning pages at night. The other is making her Artist Date a visit to the cafe to do her morning pages. I suggested they try one week every day morning pages, and another week every day evening pages, or setting an alarm, or doing them always at a cafe... but they don't want to lose sleep, time away from work, etc. Finally, I suggested this might be resistence. I am doing them everyday and trying to set a good example. We'll see how it works out next week... Thanks. -
