Wed, January 28, 2004 - 6:33 PMGee. Hi. I'm new here. Actually I'm new on tribe in general. I just discovered The Artist's Way a couple weeks ago, but I knew it was what I needed to do right away and so I'm in week 2 of doing by myself right now. So far it has had some interesting and unexpected effects--all good, though. Too bad I already started. I don't think I could stop and wait now. It's too exciting to keep going.
For what it's worth, though, I'm Evans from Seattle, in it for composition (music) and writing (fiction and poetry) and I'm doing it becuause I've been in a huge creative funk for a few years now and I'm sick to death of it.

My location is Ontario, Canada.
My art genre is several: writing, oil painting, mosaics & stained glass(absolute beginner), and music & dance (strictly amateur).
Top reason for participation: To open up my creative juices, and to muster the courage to perhaps, display some of my art. -

Sat, January 31, 2004 - 6:57 PMHi, I am Michelle, and I am also very much a beginner with painting. Ultimately I would like to write a childrens book, but to begin with, I want to try to learn and explore different mediums like watercolour, ink painting, acrylic painting, even collage, or decoupage. I would really glad if I joined a class of some sort so i could get some real instruction on painting. But maybe I can satisfy myself by using some online instructions and books that I have that try to show different techniques. I want to try to make some time to explore and perhaps generate ideas for childrens books. I am not against collage cut outs for characters, or decoupage either. I have a tackle box full of paint, and yet, I don't exactly know where to begin. Sometimes I can sit down, and paint something nice, and other times I get stuck because it doesn't come out as I visualize it in my mind. I am not really the best artist, I just feel a deep need to play and explore.

I was never dicsiplined enough to do it on my own, Sure, I read the book, but didn't follow through with all the exercises. I'm what you call a procrastinator. ;) So, I thought I'd give it another go in a more structured "environment". I'm thinking of this as an actual/virtual class.

I want to really get in touch with my creative side that I have supressed for far too long. I need to work on my motivation and dedication as well.
Right now my life is in definite transition, and doing some real serious work with myself is a necessity. I need this process, I crave this process. Thank you all for giving mutual support.

well I could use the motivation.. Ive attempted this twice in the past and got as far as week 10 (almost there!)
