[Note: I loved every task on the list this week, so I may add a few more for us to do as a group. I hope you liked them all too!]
Habits: Take a look at your habits. Many of them may interfere with your self-nurturing and cause shame. Some of the oddest things are self-destructive. Do you have a habit of watching TV you don't like? Do you have a habit of hanging out with a really boring friend and just killing time (there's an expression!)? Some rotten habits are obvious, overt (drinking too much, smoking, eating instead of writing). List three obvious rotten habits. What's the payoff in continuing them?
Some rotten habits are more subtle (no time to exercise, little time to pray, always helping others, not getting self-nurturing, hanging with people who belittle your dreams). List three of your subtle foes. What use do these forms of sabotage have? Be specific.
So, we are looking for:
a) three obvious rotten habits;
b) three subtle foes.

Re: w3: Task 4: Habits
Mon, February 16, 2004 - 10:15 PMThree totten habits:
1. Smoking, even though I am training
2. Tribing, even though I have a wrist injury
3. Procrasting, even though I have a chance at some contracts I have been wooing for six months
Three subtle habits:
1. Not prioritizing, even though I am doing independent work, so I need to be organized to accomplish what I am shooting for.
2. Making excuses to myself, even though no one is really asking for explanations.
3. Being timid and letting opportunities pass me by, even though I think I can do a good job at some projects I am too scared to take on.
[Note: Those all sound like the same thing to me, now that I have typed them out. But they are pretty much how I am spending my time: talking myself out of opportunities that I have put in a lot of hard work to get.]

c) Not always knowing my own personal power

Re: w3: Task 4: Habits
Wed, February 18, 2004 - 11:09 AMThree Obvious habits:
1.Drinking too much caffeine - this one creeps up on me.
2.Eating too much sweets - after a hard day's work.
3.Watching mindless TV - see #2.
Three Subtle habits:
1.Avoiding crowded situations -I'm sensitive, & fear & hate'em.
2.Saying "yes" to an interesting event, then at last minute, trying to squirm out of it - see #1.
3.Believing I can't live my dreams in a cold harsh insensitive world - see #1.
The third one is a form of self-sabotoge... if I could see beyond this belief, I think I would be more free to be an artist.

Re: w3: Task 4: Habits
Thu, February 19, 2004 - 2:35 AMI'm finding this task really difficult. I pretty much know what habits I want to put down, I just can't seem to bring myself to type them up and post them. I've gotten halfway through several times, only to delete everything and go off and do something else. At least there's still a couple more days in the week, so I still have time.

Re: w3: Task 4: Habits
Sat, February 21, 2004 - 2:58 PM3 ugly rotten nasty habits
1) eating day by day instead of going grocery shopping (I bet most of my paycheck goes here.. mmmm pizza)
2) driving/going places I don't need to go.. this is like an artist date but 3 times a day. A little over the top. I didn't realize till I jotted it down but I think I'm avoiding something.
3) renting movies.. I've got this dangerous Freedom Pass from the almighty Blockbuster that always me to avoid artwork with unlimited movie rentals. Beware of this great $25/month deal!
Subtle Foes:
1) roommates and girlfriend that will not leave me alone (they think I'm being antisocial and cold when I tune into the cosmos)
2) I don't sing cause I live in an apartment with roomies
3) spend most of my hours around suppresed people with little motivation..
